    I’m not sure, but I think this ‘misspelling’ is on purpose.  There is a slang term that sounds like this:  poned.  This may be their spelled version of that slang term.  It means dumped on.  Although the saying is correct, it might be too obscure to be a big seller.  “Punked” is a very popular phrase but ‘Powned” is not for example.

    They pronounce it poned, but it’s because the word “owned” was mis-spelled in the game. It was supposed to come up and say “you got owned” but they inadvertantly  replaced the letter o with the letter p. That’s why all the kids say “you got poned” which is actually spelled pwned. Here’s the link to wikipedia that also explains it, but they don’t mention the game or how it came about.
